For the past two years, Wood Sisters has offered a space for girls to connect deeply with the land, themselves, and one another. As this program continues to grow, we are stepping into a new chapter.

The Wood Sisters: The Next Season is an evolution of the original program, shaped with greater intention as a coming-of-age journey. With a more focused arc and the addition of a ceremonial overnight experience, this offering invites participants to engage more deeply with the transitions, questions, and possibilities that arise as they move toward womanhood.

Wood Sisters is an empowerment-based, land-connected program that invites girls into relationship with the natural world, themselves, and each other, while gently supporting their personal growth and self-awareness.

Each gathering is intentionally crafted to nurture a sense of sisterhood and belonging, creating a safe and supportive space where participants are encouraged to show up as they are and express themselves authentically.

Through time spent on the land—observing seasonal rhythms, practicing hands-on skills, and engaging in creative expression—we explore themes of self-care, body literacy, confidence, and identity, honouring the unique gifts each person carries. Woven throughout the year is an ongoing, land-inspired project that holds the story of each participant’s journey, offering a tangible reflection of their growth over time.

Our days together are rooted in Danu’s core routines of games, songs, stories, sit spots, and sensory awareness, cultivating presence, curiosity, and a felt sense of connection to place. From this foundation, we begin to open age-appropriate conversations around identity, relationships, and what it means to grow into womanhood, holding space with care and respect.

We hope that each Wood Sister leaves with not only practical skills, but also a deepened sense of respect—for herself, for others, and for the living world—carrying these relationships forward into her life.

The program will culminate in a seasonal threshold experience at an overnight camp where participants are invited to reflect, be challenged, and step forward into a new season of life with openness, awareness, and a sense of belonging.

Co-led by Danu Directors Dani and Allie, The Wood Sisters: The Next Season offers a nurturing and intentional container for building trust, deepening connection, and engaging in the meaningful, and sometimes challenging, work of growing into womanhood.

"I like Wood Sisters because it's really fun and interactive. You're learning stuff about survival and plants, plant medicine, how to start a fire, what to eat and what not to eat. I feel like everyone who goes has so much fun. I opted out once and I immediately regretted it."

- Nova, 12

"We value the opportunity for our children to deepen their connection with nature and their nature within a supportive explorative community, exposing them to a broader understanding of what learning and 'school' can be."

“Dani has been a wonderful mentor to both of my daughters. She has a kind, caring and nurturing approach to working with youth in an outdoor setting. I would highly recommend any program she is running, or involved with. My girls always come home happy after a day out with Dani learning, crafting and playing games. Overall awesome human.”
